Detailed Overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Casual  Cardiology Technologist to join our Cardiology team at Surrey Memorial Hospital and Jim Pattison Outpatient Care & Surgery Centre located in Surrey, B.C.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, holter and/or event monitor testing and Ambulatory Blood Pressure (ABP) testing.
  • Explain procedures and answer patient questions in preparation for testing.
  • Scan and analyze ECG, stress and holter monitor test strips in addition to selecting and assessing portions of test strips and summarizing for interpretation by medical staff.
  • Under supervision, may assist with Pacemaker interrogation, monitoring and documentation.
  • Enter patient test information as per department protocols, into Meditech to provide Electronic Health Records database for client/patient files.
  • Maintain appropriate files and report according to established department procedures/policies.
  • Demonstrate ECG testing procedures and operation of related equipment to students and new staff.
  • Provide orientation and training to ECG staff and other hospital staff as directed.
  • Maintain equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items as required as well as completing requisitions for repair using established procedures.
  • Distribute patient reports to appropriate wards and/or departments.
  • Provide input and assist with the development, implementation and update of department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level.
  • Two (2) years of recent related experience.
  • Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certified.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
